Butterflies on Bonaire – Banded sphinx moth

The Banded shpinx moth or Eumorpha fasciatus is one of the moth species that you sometimes can see on Bonaire. This moth is mostly active during the evening hours and at night. You can find the Banded sphinx moth on other Caribean islands as well, and in South America.

This is one of the bigger moths you can see on Bonaire, with a 2 inch long body. When this moth opens his wings you can see nice color accents. So far there are no spots on Bonaire where you have a higher chance to see one of these moths, you just have to be lucky!
