Butterflies on Bonaire – White-tipped black

The White-tipped black or Snowbush spanworm is one of the butterflies you might see often when you are on Bonaire in the beginning of the year. This small butterfly has a wingspan of just over an inch and is recognizable because of the white tips on the black wings, the black/orange body and its big black feelers.

In the right months you can see this butterfly everywhere on Bonaire, sometimes you see a couple, sometimes they are by the thousands! During the rainy season in the months of january and februari you can see them along the coast, like the ocean route that goes along Thousand steps. The dirtroad between Bopec and Playa Frans is also a good road to spot a lot of these butterflies.
